Student recruitment shrinking at 40 universities

A quarter of institutions are under pressure, despite an overall growth in full-time undergraduates accepting places.

Fewer students are accepting places at more than a quarter of UK universities, according to analysis of data published by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, conducted by HE.

Overall the number of students accepted to UK universities increased by 5 per cent between 2014 and 2016, according to the figures. Over half a million students were accepted in 2016.
