Concerns over absence of affordable student rooms

New builds of higher quality student accommodation are not being accompanied by affordable rooms

Private student accommodation blocks are becoming more luxurious but affordable options remain scarce, according to property experts.

A report on the UK’s purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) market by property firm Cushman & Wakefield revealed that rent hikes in en-suite accommodation mean the average private sector en-suite eats around 70 per cent of the maximum maintenance loan for students.
