NUS general election survey finds support for maintenance grants and study opportunities in Europe
Some 61 per cent of students with a student loan say they are likely to vote for a political party offering to bring back maintenance grants in this general election, according to a survey by the National Union of Students.
The NUS polled almost 2,000 students aged 18 to “50 plus” and found that while a majority would vote for a party reintroducing the grants, which were scrapped by the Conservative government in 2015, 33 per cent were neutral on the issue or described themselves as unlikely to do so. The remainder said they did not know or preferred not to say.
