Majority of applicants want universities to wait until exams are over before making offers
More than half of recent university applicants say universities should wait until students have sat their exams before making offers, leading to renewed calls for a post-qualifications admissions system in the UK.
A survey of 1,500 people who applied to university between 2015 and 2019, carried out by marketing firm ComRes for vice-chancellors body Universities UK, found that 56 per cent believe universities “should only make offers after people have received their academic results”. The same proportion said the application process “should only begin after people have received their academic results”, even if it meant starting at university later in the year.
