Graduate premium on the wane for younger students

Report highlights decrease in earnings boost

Younger graduates can expect to earn a significantly smaller graduate premium than their older peers, even if they achieve the same degree classification, a report published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency on 10 March has found.

According to the analysis, graduates born in 1970 who achieved a first or upper second-class degree earned 20 per cent more than non-graduates at age 26. Those born in 1990 and achieving the same results earned just 14 per cent more.
