‘Striking’ underachievement among Muslim students

Advance HE report shows religion-related degree attainment gap

Data on degree outcomes among students of different faiths has shown that Muslims are consistently underperforming in UK higher education.

According to a report by Advance HE, which looked at the effect of students’ religions and beliefs on their education outcomes, only 65 per cent of Muslim students nationally achieve a 2:1 or a first, compared to 76 per cent of the population overall.
