Students in England who started university in September were not at a disadvantage despite missing out on their A-level exams because of Covid-19, researchers have found.
In a paper—Do Examinations Prepare Students for Higher Education? A lesson from the Covid-19 lockdown—academics from the University of Birmingham, the University of East Anglia and the University of Leicester claim that for 300 students starting biological science courses in autumn 2020, disruption to their education because of Covid-19 had not made a significant difference.
