Mind the gap

Extensive information about what to expect at university fails to provide what students really want to know.

Incoming students can now access a plethora of data about higher education, but they are still in the dark about what university life will actually be like.

The reality check report published on 4 July by the Higher Education Policy Institute and Unite Students, a student accommodation provider, found many were in for a shock, with most mistakenly expecting to spend more time in lectures than they did in the classroom, and nearly half expecting more one-to-one support than at school.
