For Liberal Democrats, higher education has always been seen as playing a key part in creating fairness and opportunity for all. So when our tuition fee policy crashed in the coalition we ensured a range of measures to support students and potential students from non-traditional and disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result, numbers of disadvantaged young people accessing universities have increased.
