There has been a sharp rise in the number of part-time students from Wales after its government introduced a revised student support package last autumn.
According to the Welsh government, which was reporting on its student support package for the first time, there has been a 35 per cent increase in Welsh part-time undergraduate students in the UK. It also reported a 58 per cent rise in postgraduate students receiving dedicated bursaries and support from Welsh universities.
The Welsh government claims the increase is down to the new student support package that came into effect in Wales for the 2018-19 academic year, although this is the first year such statistics have been collected and so a trend is yet to be established.
