Clinical trials for malaria vaccine underway in Uganda

Ugandan medical researchers began selecting child volunteers in May for Africa’s latest clinical trial of a potential vaccine against malaria.

The Ugandan research, done at Iganga Hospital, will complement other human studies underway in Ghana, Gabon and Burkina Faso. The scientists are testing the effectiveness of hybrid malaria vaccine known at this stage as GMZ2.
