British MPs call for more science aid

British development aid should focus more on encouraging developing country scientists to stay in, or return to, their home countries, a UK parliamentary committee has said.

The committee’s report, ‘Building Scientific Capacity for Development’, was released on 26 October. It takes the government’s Department for International Development (DFID) to task for failing to grow its own in-house science expertise.
