An African strategy for rice research will aim to make the continent, which currently imports nearly half of its rice, almost self-sufficient by 2020.
A 10-year strategy, released by the Africa Rice Centre (AfricaRice) on 1 February, will fund at least 30 doctoral and master’s fellowships in Africa each year.
