Virologist Oyewale Tomori has been named as president of the Nigerian Academy of Science. He took over the post on 26 January from Oye Ibidapo-Obe, who had held it since 2009.
Tomori has served as the regional virologist and laboratory coordinator for Africa for the World Health Organization. He was also the foundation vice-chancellor of the private Redeemer’s University in Ogun State, western Nigeria.
