The University of Aalto has launched a cooperation programme with South Africa, which includes exchange opportunities for students, lecturers and researchers.
The goal of the programme, which focuses on communications technologies, is to use Finland’s expertise in ICT to help the field develop in South Africa. For now, the university has linked up with the South African Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and, outside South Africa, with the University of Botswana.
“When working in the same job for a long time, it is easy to get stuck in place,” said Vikki du Preez, an ICT lecturer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. “It’s great to have a look at the range of teaching and courses outside.”
