A South Africa-Norway research programme to fund joint climate, energy and environment projects will issue its first call for proposals in September.
The South Africa – Norway Research Co-operation on Climate, the Environment and Clean Energy (SANCOOP) is funded with 40 million Norwegian kroner ($8.3m) from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and R10m (US$1.1m) from the South African government.
The Research Council of Norway and South Africa’s National Research Foundation will administer the programme, which runs from 2013 to 2017 and builds on previous bilateral cooperation programmes.
