South African infrastructure boost ‘not enough’

The R280 million (US$31m) allocated by the South African government for research infrastructure in last week’s national budget is not enough, a senior research policy analyst has said.

Michael Kahn, a professor at Stellenbosch University, told Research Africa last week that the funding did not meet the infrastructural development needs of South Africa’s research institutions.
