EU mulls simpler migration rules for researchers

The European Commission has proposed to simplify rules for non-EU researchers moving to Europe to work.

The rules wouldn’t apply in Denmark or the United Kingdom, as both countries have negotiated opt-outs from EU immigration regulations.

Cecilia Malmström, EU commissioner for home affairs, presented the plan in Brussels on 25 March, describing it as a necessary step to attract foreign scientists.
