Social scientist Fikile Mazibuko has resigned as vice-chancellor of South Africa’s University of Zululand but its governing body says her action is not indicative of a crisis.
“Chairman of council Cyril Gumede indicated there is no crisis at the university, saying it remained in a healthy financial position,” UNIZULU said in a statement announcing Mazibuko’s resignation on 24 October.
Mazibuko, whose term of office was to end in January 2015, left with immediate effect to pursue other interests, according to the UNIZULU statement.
