Vacancies at research management association

The Southern African Research and Innovation Managers Association has four vacancies, including a newly created executive director post that will take charge of the organisation on a full-time basis.

The other positions are for project managers for research management, innovation and technology transfer, and Africa engagement. Applications for all vacancies close on 1 July.

The executive director will be appointed on a five-year contract to raise funds, market, manage and coordinate SARIMA’s activities. Applicants should have at least a masters degree and eight years’ work experience, of which five should be in research or technology transfer management. The job is based at SARIMA’s Pretoria office.

Previously SARIMA depended solely on part-time contract work by research and innovation managers affiliated to universities and organisations in the Southern Africa region.

The project manager positions will be awarded on a year’s contract spanning 20 hours per week with candidates preferably working from home. Applicants should have experience of the area of expertise required for each position, fluent English skills and know-how of national and regional innovation systems.
