One of Africa’s foremost malaria researchers will step down from one of the continent’s most influential and prestigious research jobs next year.

Kevin Marsh, director of the Kenya Medical Research Institute-Wellcome Trust Programme, tells Research Africa that he plans to leave his post in the second half of 2014.

A Briton who set up the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust programme nearly 25 years ago, Marsh has served at its helm ever since. Earlier this year Thomson Reuters identified him as one of Africa’s most highly cited scientists.
