Science joins education in Kenyan reshuffle

Kenya has integrated higher education, science and basic education into one portfolio under the ministry of education, following the election of president Uhuru Kenyatta last month.

Kenyatta announced the move last week, which will see the creation of a department of science and technology within the ministry of education.

Crispus Kiamba, permanent secretary in the now integrated ministry of higher education and science, expects a new minister to be announced this week.
