Kenyan government ponders lifting GMO import ban

Kenya’s government might lift its ban on importing genetically modified organisms in a move to boost food security.

Wilson Songa, principal secretary of the industrialisation ministry, said lifting the ban would depend on expert findings about safety.

“Plans to review the ban on genetically modified organisms and other biotechnologies are pegged on expert reports endorsing it,” he said.
