Kenyan universities urged to embrace ICTs

Universities in Kenya have been challenged by government to do more than merely talk about the use of information communication technologies and innovation, and to apply them in their day-to-day operations.

Education and science minister Jacob Kaimenyi made the remarks during a seminar on ICT innovation at the University of Nairobi’s Kenya Science Campus on 25 June.

He called on the universities to support the government in provision of ICT infrastructure such as computing devices and internet connectivity, as well as in areas of training and mentoring. Universities should embrace the use of technology in teaching and learning as well as administrative processes, to improve the quality of service delivery, he said.
