Jacob Mignouna from Togo has been named director of an East African biotechnology hub based in Nairobi, ending a month-long search to fill the post.
The Biosciences eastern and central Africa-International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) Hub announced the plant breeding and genetics expert’s appointment on 31 May.
Mignouna will replace Appolinaire Djikeng, who has led the BecA-ILRI hub since December 2012. In April this year, Djikeng was appointed to lead the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health, a partnership between ILRI, the University of Edinburgh, and Scotland’s Rural College with headquarters in Nairobi and Edinburgh.
