The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency has issued a US$5.5 million grant to a Nairobi-based biosciences hub to boost research capacity for agricultural productivity in Eastern and Central Africa.
The five-year grant builds on investments by Sweden in the Biosciences eastern and central Africa-International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) hub starting from 2011.
The funding will be disbursed over five years beginning 1 July, with priority given to initiatives promoting the application of biosciences in agriculture.
