Kenyatta seeks vice-chancellor after long wait

After 18 months under an acting vice-chancellor, Kenya’s Kenyatta University is finally recruiting for a permanent head.

It is inviting applications to the position following the end of a legal dispute with political activist Okiya Omtatah, who had filed a case seeking to stop the institution’s council from recruiting a head on the grounds that the council was favouring unsuitable candidates.

Michael Wainaina has been acting vice-chancellor since March 2016 when the former incumbent, Olive Mugenda, retired.
