Part Four: The Next Stage of the Journey

Having written about gender, the family and sisterhood, it is inevitable that I have to do a study of motherhood given its importance in theory and in the everyday lives of individuals and communities through time.

Personally, motherhood has been a constant in my own life since the beginning of my graduate studies. As a matter of fact when I showed up for graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley, I was accompanied by my two-year-old child.
