Malawi excels in NORHED seed funding round

Vice-chancellor Robert Ridley explains his university's success

The University of Malawi is a partner in seven of the 97 projects singled out for seed funding from NORHED, Norway's new research capacity building initiative. Few other African institutions can match that tally.

The university’s successful projects range from mathematics teacher education to capacity building in surgical training and research. These projects will now get financial support to prepare full proposals to NORHED’s main grant round, due next year. (See ‘How to make NORHED applications pay’ in this issue for more information about the funding programme).
