Plethora of funding for Ebola research

Grants totalling US$10.4 million for Ebola research were announced by a variety of international funders this month.

The UK’s Department for International Development and the Wellcome Trust have given £1.34m (US$2.1m) to five research projects to collect data to predict outbreaks.

The funding will also be used to develop tools for diagnosing Ebola and improve the safety of health workers. One of the projects will be carried out in Sierra Leone.
