NIH commits $26m to research in developing countries

The United States National Institutes of Health has earmarked US$26 million for a programme that creates quality research positions in developing countries.

The programme places researchers from the US as well as from low- and middle income countries, as defined by the World Bank, in developing country institutions for a year-long stint.

The fellowships, announced on 17 July, cover travel, a stipend for living costs and research funds.
