Africa expands its share of Fogarty HIV awards

African institutions have increased their presence in the latest awards made by the Fogarty International Center's HIV Research Training Programme.

African universities will lead two five-year projects and two three-year ones, while African partners are involved in all but two of the projects announced on 18 September.

In the programme’s previous grant round Africans led only one five-year project and none of the three-year projects.
