South Africa nabs fifth place in international health R&D grants

But analysis is limited by small number of funders in the study

South Africa comes fifth in a study that counts the number of health research grants received by researchers around the world in 2016 from ten global research funders. 

In a paper published by World Health Organization researchers on 17 February, only the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Sweden do better at winning health grants from the funders.
