Deadline nears for health implementation research call

The World Health Organisation’s first African call for small implementation research grants for disease prevention and control, and health systems, closes on 31 October.

The WHO’s African unit is funding the programme jointly with the international Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, which helps facilitate, support and influence efforts to fight poverty-related diseases.

Garry Aslanyan, manager for partnerships and governance at the WHO, says similar calls have been issued in other regions, but that this is the first call for Africa. The programme is meant to promote research and strengthen research capacity.
