Ten African innovators in the running for the 2015 African Innovation Prizes were announced on 13 April.

Three prizes are awarded each year: the grand prize worth US$100,000 and two US$25,000 awards for innovations with the largest social impact and the most business potential respectively.

South Africa has the best odds of winning one of the prizes with four candidates, followed by Kenya with two and Burundi, Cameroon, Morocco and Uganda with one apiece.
