An East African bioscience hub has launched a partnership with a UK institute to target food security on the continent through multidisciplinary research.
The launch of the Alliance to Accelerate Crop Improvements in Africa took place on 16 June in the UK. It sees Kenya’s Biosciences eastern and central Africa-International Livestock Research Institute and the John Innes Centre expand on their existing collaboration.
ACACIA will target food security issues in Africa through research and biotechnology. Crops will be fortified against emerging diseases as well as climate change.
