Two Africans are in the running for women in science awards backed by Nature and the Estee Lauder group of companies.

Nature announced the shortlist for its inaugural Nature Research Awards for Inspiring Science and for Innovating Science on 7 September.

Both African nominees are in the innovating science category, which are for organisations or individuals who promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics among women or girls.
