Continental body seeks humanitarian innovations and Wits tops Africa in humanities

AU seeks innovations against humanitarian crises

The African Union has announced a digital innovation competition to address humanitarian issues plaguing the continent. The issues include natural disasters such as famine, drought and floods, as well as epidemics and conflict. A shortlist of five innovations will receive mentoring and training, with a winning project to receive €20,000 (US$22,000) to develop a product. Applications close on 18 October.
