WHO and African academy strike deal to promote health innovation
The African Academy of Science has linked with the World Health Organization to scale-up health innovations on the continent. The agreement signed on 28 October in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, puts the two organisations on a path to assess innovation needs, strengthen regional and national innovation platforms, build ideas pipelines, and explore ways to fund scaling-up efforts. “The intention is to continually infuse new ideas and refresh the pipeline while at the same time building the ecosystem to support innovation,” said WHO regional director for Africa Matshidiso Moeti in a statement.
