Africa’s space industry is booming and its earnings could top US$10 billion in the next five years, according to the 2019 African Space Industry Annual Report.

The report, released on 11 June, was produced by Space in Africa, a sector news and analysis website with reporters in Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania.

The report states that the industry has earned US$7bn since 1998. During this time the continent has launched 35 satellites, 14 of which were designed for earth observation and eight for scientific experiments. Fifteen of the satellites were launched in the last four years.
