Mark Green resigns from USAID, and other stories from the past week

Mark Green has resigned as administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, he announced on 16 March. Green said he plans to return to the private sector in April. Green is a former ambassador to Tanzania and has served as USAID’s administrator since May 2017. On 17 March US president Donald Trump appointed John Basra as acting USAID administrator. Basra had been the assistant administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean.
