WHO summit adopts plans to tackle chronic diseases and health emergencies

Two strategies adopted by African ministers this week place research and development funding at the heart of combating emergencies and non-communicable diseases.

They were approved at the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa taking place in Togo’s capital Lomé from 22 to 26 August. The Committee is the WHO’s decision-making body in Africa.
