New science funding trends create ‘opportunities’ for Africa

             

Better data could bolster domestic funding and boost intra-African collaboration, conference hears

African research councils and science funders should work together to leverage new trends to benefit the continent, a meeting has heard.

Johann Mouton from Stellenbosch University and Heide Hackmann from the University of Pretoria, both in South Africa, presented a working paper on Africa’s changing funding landscape to the Science Granting Councils Initiative’s annual forum, held from 13 to 17 November in Mombasa, Kenya.
