Africa’s 10-year science plan ‘was bound to come with challenges’

Last week, Research Professional News reported that a review of Stisa-2024, the African Union’s 10-year science plan, found it had been severely hampered by a lack of buy-in from governments, weak governance structures and inadequate resources.

With drafting of the plan’s successor underway, we spoke to Joanes Atela, executive director of the Kenya-based Africa Research and Impact Network, about the review’s findings and the lessons learned.
