General Electric aims to boost Kenya’s cardiac capacity

The United States company General Electric has announced a two-year partnership to train Kenyan doctors and technicians in echocardiography.

The Kenya Cardiac Society, the local partner,  will host 40 Kenyans for six-month courses. Echocardiography is a technique that visualises the heart through ultrasound.

Announcing the deal on 4 May GE said that the training will boost overall cardiac treatment in Kenya, which it says has only 60 cardiac specialists.
