UK funds African digital innovation networks

Networks to ‘address development challenges’ like health, energy and online access

The United Kingdom government has funded 24 networks involving partners from both Africa and the UK to boost digital innovation on the continent.

The networks will receive seed funding with the aim of stimulating innovations, such as smartphone malaria diagnostics and digital mental health interventions. At the end of the grants, which will last up to a year, networks can apply for further funding to carry out research or cement their network.
