South Africa completes asteroid-tracking telescope

Northern Cape will scan southern skies for Earth-bound threats

South Africa has finished construction on a telescope which will form part of a global asteroid alert system.

Blade Nzimande, the science minister, announced the completion of the telescope based in Sutherland in the Northern Cape on 31 January.
