An unnamed donor has given South Africa's University of the Witwatersrand R100 million (US$9.2m) to fund research and teaching and for its arts museum.
The university, which announced the donation on 28 October, said the funder is a South African citizen who has chosen to remain anonymous. The donor has given funding to the university in the past, Wits said in a statement on its website.
Ninety percent of the donation will be used for research or teaching purposes. The other R10m will be allocated to the Wits Arts Museum.
