Nominations for the 2015 South African Women in Science Awards are now open.
Prizes are reserved for women in the life sciences, the humanities and the social sciences. There are prizes for senior and junior researchers, as well as masters and PhD fellowships with less stringent thematic constraints.
The prizes will focus on themes related to the millennium development goals, which were set in 2000 to be achieved by this year. A Department of Science and Technology announcement on 31 March highlighted seven MDG-related topics on which the prizes will focus, including infectious diseases, child mortality, environmental sustainability and extreme poverty and hunger.
