South Africa's Department of Science and Technology has endeavoured to work closely with the treasury ministry in order to reach its target of spending 1.5 per cent of GDP on R&D by 2019.
Science minister Naledi Pandor made the remarks at a media briefing ahead of the tabling of her department’s budget for 2015/16 at Parliament in Cape Town on 21 May.
Pandor said that she has set up a joint task team with her counterpart in the National Treasury, Nhlanhla Nene, although it is still at an early stage.
